Our goal at Five Horizons Health Services Behavioral Health Department is to promote emotional wellness through therapy, education, and support.

What is Behavioral Health?

“Behavioral health refers to a state of mental, emotional, and social well-being or behaviors and actions that affect wellness. Behavioral health is a key component of overall health.” (CDC, June 2025)

Key Component of Behavioral Health:

“Promoting positive behavioral health includes, addressing factors at multiple levels, including Social Determinants of Health (SDOH), supporting the environments where we live, work, learn, and play.” (CDC, June 2025)


Five Horizons Health Services does not currently offer 24/7 or after-hours support.

  Who Do We Serve?

Five Horizons Health Services clients who are located in both Alabama and Mississippi.

Types of Session(s) Offered: Individual sessions

Location: The therapy sessions will be available at each location in both Alabama and Mississippi. Some locations may offer both in-person therapy, as well as, telehealth therapy. Please check with the respective location to determine what is available to you.

  What to Expect During the First Session?

The first session will be an intake. During this session, you will answer questions about your MH history and demographics. We will also complete a Psychosocial Assessment and discuss treatment goals.

Length of Time: Sessions will be scheduled for 60-minutes

Frequency: This will be determined by you and the Behavioral Health Therapist at the end of your first session.

  Is There a Particular Method or Therapy That Will be Used to        Help Address My Concerns?

Our experienced, licensed therapists address challenges and concerns by using evidence-based practices and approaches. These practices and approaches may include but are not limited to:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)                                 
  • Mindfulness                                                                                      
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)                                           
  • Gestalt Therapy   
  • Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

      Emotional Support Animals (ESA):

FHHS does not provide recommendations or letters of support for Emotional Support Animals (ESA).

Our Services

Support Group(s)

Purpose: To increase support and open communication in a non-judgmental environment with people who may be dealing with similar concerns, illnesses, and/or challenges

Length of time: 1-hour                      Frequency: Occurs at least once per month

How do I find out more? Speak with your Case Manager or Behavioral Health Therapist

Psycho-educational Group(s)

Purpose: To provide education, insight, and coping strategies about issues that may be impacting one’ s health and/or emotional wellness

Length of Time: 1-hour                      Frequency: Occurs at least once quarterly

Examples of Topic(s) Discussed: Lifestyle Changes, Depression, Anxiety, Nutrition

Behavioral Health Therapy

Purpose: To identify, discuss and process concerns and challenges that may be impacting your daily life and/or overall emotional wellness and to  identify and implement coping strategies to help mitigate or resolve the concerns and challenges that may be negatively impacting your emotional wellness.

Who Provides Behavioral Therapy? 

Behavioral Health Therapists.
All of our therapists are experienced Licensed Social Workers or Licensed Counselors. Each therapist has their own specialty; however, all are well versed in working with challenges that face FHHS clients/population.
